With irregular verbs, learners sometimes use the wrong past participle: "If she had went" instead of "If she had gone." Finally, many students drop contractions incorrectly in speech: "I'd known" (= I had known) and "I'd have called" (= I would have called) both use "I'd," so context is key.

Can I use "could have" or "might have" instead of "would have"?

Yes — and doing so adds useful shades of meaning. "Could have" expresses past ability or opportunity: "If I had had more time, I could have finished the project" (I would have been able to). "Might have" expresses past possibility with less certainty: "If she had taken the medicine, she might have felt better" (it is possible but not guaranteed). "Would have" is the most definite — it says the result would definitely have happened. Choose the modal that matches your level of certainty about the imaginary outcome.
