The contracted negative forms are essential to learn: can't (cannot), won't (will not), and shouldn't (should not). "He can't come tonight, can he?" (negative to positive). "They shouldn't do that, should they?" (negative to positive). Note that "won't" does not sound like "will + not" — it is an irregular contraction that learners must memorise. Modal tags are very common in everyday speech for asking about abilities (can), future events (will), and advice (should), making this an essential pattern for natural conversation.
