For larger or less precise numbers, use phrases like "several times," "many times," or "a few times." You can also say "a number of times" or "lots of times" in informal speech. Notice that the present perfect is used because you are talking about experiences within your life up to now — no specific date is given. In Cambridge B1 and B2 exams, this pattern often appears in open cloze and sentence transformation tasks. A useful exam tip: if the sentence includes a number of times, it almost always requires the present perfect, not the past simple.

Why do we use "ever" and "never" with present perfect?

"Ever" means "at any time in your life up to now" and is mainly used in questions: "Have you ever met a famous person?" It asks about your entire life experience. "Never" is the negative equivalent — it means "at no time in your life": "I have never met a famous person." Both words work naturally with the present perfect because this tense connects past experiences to the present moment. Note that "never" already contains a negative meaning, so you do not add "not" — saying "I haven't never" is a double negative and incorrect. In statements, you can also use "ever" after superlatives: "This is the best film I have ever seen."
